Projects
Student teams take an idea from a first sketch to something other people can actually use. Mentorship where it helps, a deadline that keeps it honest, and a finished thing at the end you can point at.

Set up by students to give other students a route into STEM work that doesn't depend on who they already know.
Recruiting the founding team
Volunteer and executive committee applications are open. Whoever joins first decides what the first projects and webinars actually are.

Every member joined as a student who wanted something that didn't exist yet.
No staff, no gatekeeping. Volunteers run the programmes, the executive committee runs the organisation, and both are open right now.

That is the mission, written by the students who started it. Everything below is how we intend to hold ourselves to it.
Make STEM opportunity ordinary
Access to research, projects and mentorship still depends far too much on which school you attend and who your family knows. We pool what students already have — time, curiosity, skills, contacts — and hand it to whoever asks.
Optional — add two or three specific aims for the first year so this reads as a commitment rather than a value.

Founded as STEM United and operating internationally as STEM United International, with chapters run by students at their own schools.
Why we started

How we're organised
A CEO and an executive committee hold the organisation together. Volunteers deliver the programmes. Chapters run locally with the same name and the same support behind them.
By students, for students — not a slogan, a constraint.
Every programme has to be something a student could reasonably run, and something a student would actually want to join. If it fails either test, we don't do it.

Volunteers keep a portfolio of what they've worked on with us — projects shipped, sessions hosted, chapters started. It stays theirs when they move on.

Take a department and own it. More responsibility, a real say in direction, and a heavier time commitment than volunteering.

Bring STEM United to your school. You get the structure, the materials and people who've set one up before; you run it your way.

Universities, labs, schools and companies who can offer speakers, mentors, facilities or a problem worth solving. We'll build a programme around it.
Sponsor a programme
Funding goes to the things students can't cover themselves: materials, software, venues and prizes. We'll tell you exactly what yours paid for.
